We are all familiar with soundwaves & how they show us variance in volume levels, However, during bespoke training with Ash Edwards funded by FUSION, Cheryl learnt about spectral frequency and how it enables us to see the many layers within sound, both the heard & unheard. Spectral frequency is used to ascertain hearing levels in digital hearing tests, so that hearing aids can be programmed precisely around individual hearing loss. By repurposing this hearing aid technology through a creative lens, Cheryl has created a physical archive of the sea spectra within art glass mosaic, each piece telling the story of the tides at the flood defence wall. She is in conversations about applying this work as contemporary public art. The glass is hand made by Dragon Art & is kindly digitally printed by Glassy London.
